Energy Management

Energy Management is a part of Business Area Markets & IT and is responsible for physical optimization of more than 11.000 MW of hydropower, 15.000 MW of wind power, two gas power plants and a consumer portfolio of more than 65 TWh/year. The main part of Statkraft’s value creation throughout a year comes through our Energy Management process.

The Energy Management unit has 160 highly qualified employees in Oslo, Trondheim, Düsseldorf, and Tirana. The unit works in an integrated energy management process consisting of water, weather- and climate, market analysis, physical power trading and production planning.

We are now looking for 4 summer interns to join Energy Management.

Summer internship Water, Weather and Climate

Tasks will include analysis of Nordic hydropower catchments. Report on differences between Statkraft GIS-data and those of the Norwegian Water and Energy Directorate, and those of the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute.

Requirements:

  • Master studies in natural sciences
  • Knowledge or interest in hydrology, meteorology or geoscience
  • Strong analytical skills, and experience working with geographical polygon data and workflows.
  • Python scripting is a huge benefit.

Summer internship Water, Weather and Climate

Tasks will include analysis of climate trends and effects on discharge to our powerplants in South America.

Requirements:

  • Master studies in natural sciences
  • Knowledge or interest in hydrology, meteorology or geoscience
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to structure and analyze data.
  • Python scripting is a huge benefit.

Summer internship Energy Management and Power Market Analysis – Nordics

Tasks will include improvement of Statkraft’s modelling of detailed hydro power units in our Nordic power marked model, by collecting, structuring and analyzing historical market data.

Requirements:

  • Master studies in mathematics, statistics, data science or similar
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to structure and analyze data.
  • Python scripting is a huge benefit

Summer internship Physical Services – Consumption

Tasks will include helping the team that nominates the daily power consumption to assess the performance of the forecasting tool by creating automated scripts.

Requirements:

  • Master studies in mathematics, statistics, data science or similar
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to structure and analyze data.
  • Python scripting is a huge benefit
